Mary Phippen born 14 Aug 1715 in Salem, Mass. She married Captain John Averill on 7 May 1735 in Topsfield, Mass. Together they had seven children of which two are my direct ancestors. She died on 18 Sep 1809 at a very healthy age of 95.
This is the first time that I have seen the word “consort” on a tombstone instead of wife. The bottom reads:
Tis but a few whose days amount
To threescore years and (?)
And all beyond that short account
Is sorrow toil and pain
She is buried at Old Westminster Cemetery in Westminster, VT.
